Ayurvedic Medicine for Every Individual - the meraki method

Stop me if this sounds familiar: you take time out of your exceptionally busy schedule to visit with your healthcare provider. This might involve taking time off of work or otherwise inconveniencing yourself. You travel to the clinic location, arrive potentially 15-30 minutes early as requested (because the appointment time on their end does not match the appointment time that the clinic gave you). You fill out a bunch of paperwork for the umpteenth time. You sit and wait for something like 30-60 minutes because your provider is running late (again). Then you meet with your provider for 15-20 minutes (if you are so fortunate) only to have your concerns go mostly unaddressed or glossed over.

In our shared modern world, healthcare can often feel impersonal and algorithmic. We dislike that as much as you do.

At The Buddha's Medicine, our top priority is to sustain a space where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued; where every person is given the time and attention they and their health concerns deserve. Our Ayurvedic integrative medicine practice is founded on the belief that true healing happens where there is compassion, understanding, and personalized care. We blend the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with modern medical insights to bring holistic healing directly to you, in a way that honors your unique story.

Radical Acceptance: The Heart of Our Practice

At the core of our Ayurvedic philosophy lies the principle of radical acceptance.

What do we mean when we use the term "radical acceptance?"

We mean that each individual is unique, with a set of experiences, challenges, and strengths that is all their own. Our practice embraces and celebrates this diversity, recognizing that true healing begins when we lovingly accept ourselves and others exactly as we are. This acceptance also becomes the groundwork for our therapeutic relationships, and fosters a reliable safe space for exploration and growth.

Judgment-Free Zone: Your Lifestyle, Your Choices

Health and wellness should never come at the cost of shame or exclusion. Our practice is and always will be a judgment-free zone where your lifestyle choices are respected and honored. It is our job to meet you where you are. Whether you're a night owl or an early bird; a vegan or an omnivore; a book worm or a jock; anyone at all or anyone in between, we work with you to find healing solutions that align with your personal preferences and values. Your journey to wellness is uniquely yours, and we're here to support you wholeheartedly every step of the way.

Beyond Boundaries: Ayurveda as a Non-Denominational System

Ayurvedic medicine transcends religious and cultural boundaries. Our practice is wholly non-denominational, welcoming individuals from all faith backgrounds (including those who are staunchly non-faith-based). We recognize that spirituality can play a significant role in healing for many, and when that is important to an individual, we support and celebrate that. We also never impose any specific faith-based beliefs of our own. The point is your personal spiritual process (or not), incorporating spiritual elements of care into your treatment plan only if you desire.

LGBTQ+ Affirming: Celebrating Diversity in Health

We are proud to be an LGBTQ+ affirming practice. We understand that gender identity, sexual orientation, and partner relationship style and preference are integral parts of an individual's overall health and well-being. We're trained to provide compassionate, knowledgeable care that respects and celebrates the full spectrum of gender and sexual identities. Here, too, we commit to holding a safe, warm, welcoming environment where everyone can feel comfortable being their authentic selves.

Neurodiversity: Embracing Different Ways of Being

Neurodiversity is human diversity. Our practice recognizes and celebrates neurodiversity of all shades - in fact, Dr. Matt himself is a neurodiverse person, and openly shares that about himself! We understand that neurological differences are not deficits, deficiencies, or disabilities, but instead are natural expressions of how human brains work. Whether you recognize yourself as neurotypical or neurodiverse, our care approach is customized at each and every visit to support your unique cognitive style and needs. We see strength and potential in all neurotypes, and it is part of our mission to support each person in reaching that strength and potential.

Your Journey to Wellness Begins Here

Our signature fusion of Ayurvedic medicine with modern integrative medical insight is the source of our insight into each person as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms or a list of diagnoses. We listen, we understand, and we work alongside you in charting a path to wellness that honors who you are.

We know that looking for the healthcare you need and deserve can sometimes feel vulnerable or overwhelming. We have experienced that ourselves. And that is just one of the reasons why we do things differently. Beginning with your very first visit with us, you'll find a calm, welcoming space where your experiences and perspectives are valued and respected.

The journey to health is collaborative. We know that you bring invaluable knowledge about your own body, brain, and life experiences to the table. It is our job to bring our expertise in Ayurvedic and integrative medicine, and meet you at the table. Together, we'll support you being the healthiest you possible.

So if you're feeling called to explore a more balanced, vibrant way of living, we're here. We invite you to take that first step, whatever that means for you. Whether you're ready to schedule a cost-free, 15 minute consultation or simply want to learn more through one of our many channels for contact, we're ready to receive you.

You are in the driver's seat. We look forward to taking your road trip with you, offering navigation, support, knowledge, and care every step of the way.

Professional disclaimer: please do not initiate any herbal or other medicinal interventions without the guidance of a knowledgeable provider.
